Parents, parents-to-be, grandparents and anyone else caring for children from early infancy and toddlers to pre-teenagers will learn life-saving and basic first aid skills in this full-day first aid course. Upon completion, you will have the knowledge and the confidence to deal with a sick child or a child in a medical emergency.
Healthy And Safe Away From Home offers this course first aid course in English. The skills taught in the course are absolutely essential when caring for infants and children. Additionally, knowing first aid is a life skill everyone benefits from should an emergency with babies or children happen.
Why a First Aid course for parents?
Despite all precautionary measures, children can injure themselves or become ill at any time, whether at home or on the go. Quick and correct first aid measures help prevent injuries and illnesses from getting worse. In addition, administering the right first aid measures are essential while waiting for additional medical help.
What is covered in this First Aid on Children course?
The First Aid on Children course covers three main topics:
- life-saving skills
- first aid skills and
- an introduction to gentle remedies for daily ailments such as cold and coughs, ear infections and fever.
During the life-saving part, you will learn to recognise and manage unconsciousness, choking and to perform CPR on infants, children and adults.
The first aid part introduces you to all basic first aid measures including wound care & severe bleeding, seizures & head injuries, burns & scalds.
This first aid course will also cover ticks, Lyme Disease and Tick-Borne Encephalitis TBE (in German Frühsommer-Meningo-Enzephalitis FSME). Ticks transmitting these diseases are found in all of Switzerland.

Who else can attend the First Aid on Children course?
In Switzerland, 40% of children aged 0 to 3 are regularly cared for by their grandparents, nannies, or other private caretakers. Whether you are a nanny, a Tagesmutter (childminder) in your private home, a childcare provider, or a teacher, this first aid course prepares you for the many smaller and larger emergencies that can happen when caring for children.
