I “met” Lindsay Davis on Twitter when interacting with fellow medical professional discussing sudden cardiac arrest. Lindsay is a former Miss Ohio and was diagnosed with hypertrophic cardiomyopathy at age 17 following several episodes of collapsing when training for what she was hoping to be a professional career as a ballerina. She has since used her personal experience and her fame to raise awareness about hypertrophic cardiomyopathy and sudden cardiac arrest in young athletes. She was a driving force behind the passage of SB252, also called “Lindsay’s Law” in Ohio. This law requires all coaches and teachers to undergo education on the symptoms of sudden cardiac arrest.

Lindsay is a driven young woman, who has achieved so much with her work on sudden cardiac arrest. I am very much looking forward to meeting her in person during a visit in New York this autumn.
