WHY TRAIN IN FIRST AID?
More than 75% of the adult population feel that everyone should know how to perform first aid. However, just over 10% have the skills to assist in an emergency. A 2012 study in 14 European countries confirmed these sad numbers. While the Czechs and Croatians excelled, the Swiss results were "unremarkable". A follow-up experiment by 20 Minuten however, titled "I have no idea what I'm doing", only 10% of the Swiss knew how to perform BLS (CPR).
This is even more disappointing as First Aid is not hard to learn: it is the combination of basic life saving skills, common sense and the ability to talk to and reassure an injured person. A good First Aid training will enable to save a life if necessary.
